Environment Conservation and Protection 

Given the environmental and health hazards prevailing within Kibera slums, there is need for full integration of environmental concerns in development planning at all levels of decision making. KISCODEP has established pragmatic programs geared towards improving environment within the country.

KISCODEP’s intervention 

• Participation during International Days i.e. World Environment Day.
• Participating in Slum Garbage Collection exercises.
• Cleaning of Nairobi River in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Environment Sector.

 

Challenges 

• Lack of necessary equipment to use during the action.
• Regular collection of garbage due to the filthy state of the slums
