Promotion of Early Childhood Education and Development (E.C.E.D)

The government says that Primary education is free. This is not true as per the view of the ordinary citizen, especially the slum dweller.

The poor and vulnerable orphaned children between the ages of 3 and 5 are not able to benefit from the Early Childhood Education because their parents or guardians cannot afford the school cost. This means these children who are called the future leaders, may not join class one, as this is a prerequisite to do so. This means, despite free primary education, a good number of children from poor households or orphans may still remain uneducated and thereby causing the country not to meet the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education by 2030.

KISCODEP promotes class one enrollment of children by supporting Early Childhood Education through subsidizing the school fees and supply of food and equipment to the same. This has, in effect, contributed to the net enrolment rate in the slums thereby reducing the number of those not attending the school due to school costs.
