Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVCs) Support and Care

There are a number of orphaned children under the care of our beneficiaries. Some are very clever but are not able to continue up to class 8 or beyond due to lack of ability to meet school fees cost. At primary level, a child has to pay the tuition offered by private teachers. Without this, their performances have always been compromised.

KISCODEP’s intervention

  • Vulnerable children who continue up to secondary schools are assisted to meet their school fees costs.

Challenges

  • Lack of finance for support
  • Many out-of school children engage in illegal activities, i.e. alcohol and substance abuse and prostitution.
  • There is an increase in child-labour as these vulnerable children look for means of survival.
  • Many children are recorded to join their fellows in the street (street children).
